  • East Devon youth parliament representative, George Downs, along with fellow campaigners, Alfie Weaver and Paige Wonnacott, are spearheading plans for the demonstration, which be a march from Princesshay to county hall, on Saturday (26 April), in order to deliver a petition containing thousands of signatures.

George Downs said:  “The meeting place will be in Princesshay, Exeter at 11am. We will then march to County Hall in order to present the petitions, currently numbering over 5000. The protest will hope to end at 3pm, inclusive of speeches.

“We are hoping for a large turnout mainly of: service users, young people, parents, teachers, trade unionists and opposition/divisional councillors. The demo will hope to send a clear and concentrated message to Devon County Council and highlight our broad coalition and the consistency of the response from stakeholders.”

I will certainly be showing my solidarity and marching with the campaigners next week.
