• Tipton St John selects site for housing - on Monday

  • At a meeting organised by Ottery St Mary Town Council, held at Tipton St John Community Hall, residents will view sites put forward by landowners, before completing questionnaires on which piece of land they would prefer to have Tipton’s allocation of 10 houses.

The event is part of a district wide review of village built-up area boundaries, which is being carried out by parish and town councils.

During the summer 15 dwellings on a hill designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, were approved.

There will be plenty of information available to help residents select a site, including planning policy considerations.

There are eight sites in total submitted by landowners.  Three at Lancercombe, one at Green Lane and another next to Metcombe Rise.  One site is between Mallocks Close and Otter Close and two further sites are at Coombe Cross.

The meeting starts at 6.45pm and ends at approximately 9pm.

Each resident has received a letter advertising the event, posters have been displayed and I wrote an article for the Tipton Times, which was published this week.  Hopefully there will be a good turnout.

Following the meeting a local statistician will analyse the responses and report back to Ottery St Mary Town Council, which will make its recommendations based on the survey results at a meeting in November.

All results must be fed back to East Devon District Council by 30 November.
