• The cost of the police commissioner elections

  • EDDC chief executive, Mark Williams confirmed the cost at last week’s overview and scrutiny committee meeting.

The turnout in East Devon, which mirrored the national picture, was incredibly low, at just 15 per cent.

Nationally, the cost of the elections, which were regarded by many as an incomprehensible farce, was around £75 MILLION pounds.

Quite what we have got for this colossal sum of money when health services are being cut and councils are having to run on at least 30 per cent budget cuts, is well beyond me.

Perhaps someone would like to ask our local MPs, how local people benefit from this exercise in politicisation of our police force?
