    22nd November 2012 | News | Claire
  • 1.    The Met Office confirmed the worst weather is coming tomorrow from midday through to early evening and given events today, Devon, particularly Mid and East, are likely to be worst affected.  There will be a lull on Friday, but then severe weather is due on Saturday and Sunday again.

    2.    The Environment Agency are reporting that river levels are not going down much this afternoon and that Devon is not likely to cope well tomorrow.  All their resources are out now clearing streams. (Separately, Andrew Hancock is aware that the Environment Agency are out in force trying to prevent flooding in Clyst St Mary as the Clyst is looking like breaking its banks later tonight.  All our people are aware and on standby)

    3.    South West Water report that the sewage treatment works in Ottery and Feniton are flooded but still operational at this stage.

    4.    The Police reiterated the message that if people can travel safely tomorrow morning, business and schools could remain open, but all need to monitor throughout the day and advise people to leave early if necessary, and particularly before it gets dark.

    5.    There are silver meetings throughout the morning and gold at 1.30pm so we will update as necessary following these.
