• Secret planning documentation now made public

  • Councillors on the LDF Panel had met with the press and public excluded since 2008 to provide direction for the LDF.

My Freedom of Information request for copies of this panel’s minutes was initially refused. But it was vital that this information should be in the public domain, particularly as EDDC’s LDF process
had been subject to criticism by Government body, the Planning Advisory Service.

I think it is unacceptable that this group were allowed to meet in secret for all this time. I also believe that if the meetings had been held in the public domain the LDF would not be the environmentally damaging document that it is. I hope that this decision will mean the start of greater transparency at East Devon District Council.
