RE: PUBLIC MEETING AT LADRAM BAY – WEDNESDAY 8 NOVEMBER – 7.30PM

Following my previous letters to you relating to the traffic through the village and the meeting that I attended with Otterton parish councillors at Ladram Bay in August, I confirm the details of a public meeting that the owners of Ladram Bay are holding next month.

Parish council chair and vice chair, John Fudge and John Hiles met with some of the senior management team at Ladram Bay last week.

Director, Zoe House has offered to hold a meeting at the complex on the above date and time.

There will be a Ladram Bay minibus seating around eight or nine people outside the King’s Arms at 7pm, for those people who are unable to make the trip on their own.

It was impressed upon the Ladram Bay staff, who will first give a presentation about their business, that the main reason for holding such a meeting is for local residents to ask questions.  I am told that this has been accepted and taken on board.

Otterton Parish Council’s Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group recently carried out a traffic count over a 2 day period.  They found that around 35 per cent of all vehicles were destined for Ladram and this was in August, their busiest period.  That probably represents around 95 if you live in Bell St or Ladram Bay Road.

Another count will be carried out later in the year.

Both the parish council chair and vice-chair believe that there is a genuine desire by Ladram Bay directors to try and improve the traffic situation.

Refreshments will be provided at the end of the meeting. I look forward to talking to many of you then!

    Yours sincerely

    Claire Wright
    Devon County Councillor
    Otter Valley Ward
