• Ottery Help scheme seeks out new volunteers

    21st October 2013 | News | Claire
  • The scheme provides all sorts of service for people who have health difficulties, trouble getting to medical appointments, or much needed emotional support for those residents who have just been bereaved.

The services its volunteers provide include:

    – transport to and from medical appointments
    – wheelchair hire
    – bereavement support
    – voluntary nail cutting services
    – memory cafe
    – visiting and befriending
    – sitting for carers
    – support for people who are feeling lonely or isolated

Ottery’s help scheme is relied on by local GPs at Coleridge Medical Centre and is really valued by the community in and around Ottery.

If you have some spare time and are wondering what to do with it, please consider volunteering.

Any volunteers reading this might like to perhaps leave a comment to let people know what it’s like to get involved.
