• Next business forum scrutiny meeting postponed

  • The meeting was due to take place on Tuesday 16 April.

An email to members from committee clerk, Debbie Meakin, states:

“In light of the revised scope of the Business TaFF as agreed at the meeting of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee on 28 March, and currently being in the pre-election period for the Feniton by-election on 3 May, the Deputy Monitoring Officer has advised that the meeting of the Business TaFF set for 16 April should be postponed until after the election, given the matters members may wish to discuss.

“We have also reviewed the work required to be done by officers in preparation for the next meeting and the proposed early date of 16 April does not give sufficient time for this to be carried out without prejudicing other existing priorities.

“The Chairman has agreed to the postponement and I will be in touch with alternative dates as soon as I am able.”

At last week’s overview and scrutiny committee, members agreed that the EDBF scrutiny sub-committee should look at (the controversial) planning issues relating to EDBF, overturning a previous ruling by EDDC chief executive, Mark Williams.
