• Housing needs survey sent to every house in West Hill

  • It includes questions on residents’ plans for the next five years or so, including whether they intend to move away from the village into a smaller home or flat.  Also, it aims to establish how many young people are likely to be looking for somewhere to live in the village over the next few years.

For people who do not have a housing need over the next five years, an accompanying form asks whether or not they would be prepared to support some new housing in the village.

The survey is run and will be assessed by the Community Council of Devon (allied to Devon County Council).  It is funded by a local landowner (unidentified so far).  I am assured by the CCD that the landowner has not had any input or influence over the questions.

I believe that any new housing built should be based on need rather than demand.
