• Fresh fears for Aylesbeare pub as it closes …

    10th December 2013 | News | Claire
  • A controversial planning application to build more houses on the pub garden and car park, was approved earlier this year.  This followed an application lodged before I was Aylesbeare’s ward member, to build houses on its garden – a real shame and surely damaging to its future.

Residents have told me that over this year, that opening hours have become less regular, especially during the last few months and the pub has been closed for several days on more than one occasion.  It was also often closed on Monday and sometimes Friday lunch times and it was often closed early in the evening, if there were few guests, they say.

With the right investment, the Aylesbeare Inn could be great. I remember going there for meals years ago and really enjoyed eating there.

I would be extremely concerned about the pub closing permanently, if this is the intention. I hope to find out more soon on this….
