• Fly-tipping on the increase?

  • The facility was removed as a cost-cutting exercise and together with the introduction of charges for disposal of certain items at the Civic Amenity Recycling Centre at Woods Farm, Bowd, also from the beginning of April, I fear that this will lead to an increase in fly-tipping.  It has already happened in West Hill at Ash Hill Woods.  Police confirm that these are the first instances of fly-tipping in months in the area.

I have asked East Devon District Council (which is responsible for clearing up fly-tipping) to introduce measures to deal with this anticipated problem, including making every effort to track down and prosecute offenders, as well as keeping a record of clear up costs to establish whether any money has really been saved.
