• EDDC rejects 10 houses at Westhayes

  • The application, was almost identical to a proposal for 15 houses on the same land which was refused by EDDC and later dismissed at appeal last year.

    The planning inspector dismissed the appeal on landscape grounds – the impact on lovely parkland – which could be seen from people’s houses and from an adjacent public right of way.

    Officers used the same arguments as the planning inspector to reject the application.

    As my parents live nearby I was advised not to take part in any decision-making on the basis that my impartiality was compromised.

    Westhayes is outside West Hill’s built-up area boundary was not one of the housing sites that West Hill people backed to be included in EDDC’s emerging Local Plan.
