• Campaign launched over selling off Sidbury pub

  • The Red Lion Inn, owned by Punch Taverns, has put on the market for £295,000 – a price that campaigners worry may be out of reach for many people.

John Loudoun, the driving force behind campaign – The Pub In The Village – said people are concerned that a developer may buy the pub and turn it into housing.

Residents are considering the possibility of a community-run pub, in order to save it.

Quoted in today’s Sidmouth Herald, Mr Loudoun said:  “We need to keep the pub in the village for a whole range of reasons – there is absolutely the opportunity for investment there to make it even more successful.”

Sidbury is in my Devon County Council ward and I have contacted Mr Loudoun to offer my help.
