• Cabinet votes through public speaking restrictions without comment

  • At the overview and scrutiny minutes on 15 May, the conservatives largely voted in favour of major public speaking restrictions at planning committee meetings – see here for details – http://www.claire-wright.org/index.php/post/eddc_public_speaking_clampdown_plans_make_it_through_scrutiny_committee

But although overview and scrutiny committee chairman, Cllr Tim Wood, can be heard explaining to the cabinet on Wednesday 4 June, that there were amendments to the proposals (and knowing how controversial the changes were) not one councillor queried these, nor did any councillor on the cabinet make a single comment about the plans.

The plans to radically curtail public speaking will now go before full council on Wednesday 23 July.

    They will be challenged.
