Mr Brinton, the Aylesbeare resident who bought the pub at auction in October last year, originally wanted to buy the building plots only behind the pub, but was forced into buying the pub as well, when a fellow businessman who had an interest in the pub, dropped out of the sale.

Mr Brinton hoped that the Woodbury-based businessman who had expressed an interest in taking on the pub, would then buy the pub from him following the sale, but it is clear that this will not now happen.

As a result, Mr Brinton has placed the pub, as a going concern, back on the market for £235,000 and says there has been about half a dozen enquiries so far.

He also reports that he was pleased that many more residents are using the pub following a threat of its closure last autumn.
