  • Last week a flyer was delivered with the Midweek Herald, with details of proposals for between 160 and 200 dwellings, plus a possible care home.

The flyer claims that ‘generous amounts of open space’ would be provided, as well as the retention of ‘important trees and hedgerows.’

The applicants are Prockter Lane LLP, represented by Simon Steele-Perkins and based at Greendale Court, off the A3052.

Mr Steele-Perkins also represented Strategic Land Partnerships on an application for 120 dwellings on land south of Ottery Road, rejected by EDDC last year.

A website – http://www.barrackroad.co.uk/index.htm – has been set up, which claims that allotments will be provided, as well as junction improvements near the Kings School.

The land is 8.6 hectares or 21 acres.

Land to the west of Ottery has been allocated in EDDC’s draft Local Plan for development.

Meanwhile another developer who wants to build on the old Ottermill Switchgear factory site will hold an exhibition of plans this week from midday to 8pm at the old travel agents in Mill Street, on Friday (5 October).

A public inquiry appeal by Redrow Homes to build 130 dwellings on land next to Butts Road, will be heard in November.
