• Appeal for 38 dwellings at West Hill withdrawn

  • The cancellation comes just two days before the hearing.

East Devon District Council officers have put in a substantial amount of work to prepare a defence for the appeal at considerable cost to the taxpayer, and I believe that it is unacceptable that an appellant should opt to withdraw an appeal at such short notice.  It has been in the system since November.

The application in my view, was an unreasonable one as the density and scale was considerably out of line with West Hill’s character.

It is unclear what action the applicant will now take, but I would have thought that it likely that a revised application will be submitted.
