• A chance to acquire a community centre for Ottery - please come along and take a look!

  • The idea is that St Saviours (adjacent to St Saviour’s bridge) would become a multi-use community space for Ottery and bring together a range of activities and services into one well-used, dynamic space.

It could be a new home for the library, arts and cultural events, workshops and activities, including a community-run cinema. There is also capacity to create a place from which a range of public services could be delivered and promoted.

St Saviours sits alongside the youth centre and Recycling In Ottery, and is in a part of the town that will see a lot of new housing development in the years ahead. Devon County Council is inviting the town council to make a case for the use of this site, as a community resource, so we have one opportunity to make that case, prior to the site being put on the market commercially.

An open morning will be taking place at the St Saviour’s site on Saturday 15 November, 10am-12 noon – we are really keen for all residents in and around Ottery to pop in and take a look and give their views about how or what the space might be used for.

To make a successful bid, which must be with Devon County Council by 20 December, any ideas for the building must be financially sustainable.  So the town council is looking for businesses or community interest companies which may wish to relocate there.

This is a one-off opportunity for Ottery and its surrounding villages to acquire something special – a proper multi-purpose community facility. Please get involved!

Please come along on Saturday 15 November to St Saviour’s and let us know your thoughts!
