Devon County Council’s cabinet recommends no action on my post-Brexit environment watchdog motion

Devon County Council’s all Conservative cabinet opted only to recommend endorsing the ‘spirit’ of my motion at this morning’s cabinet meeting, instead of agreeing to urge government to provide a post-Brexit watchdog proper with legislative weight, which was the substance of my motion.

Citizens Advice Bureau officers assisted most people who came to my Ottery drop in benefits session

Two officers from the Citizens Advice Bureau were able to help the majority of people with their challenges at the benefits drop-in meeting I held last month, at the Institute in Ottery St Mary.

Ottery Rural Ward EDDC by-election - 20 September HUSTINGS

West Hill Parish Council has organised a hustings for the candidates standing in the by-election for the Ottery Rural ward seat.

The event will take place this Friday (14 September), between 7.30 and 9pm in West Hill Village Hall.

The hustings is organised by West Hill Parish Council and will be chaired by its chairman, Margaret Hall.

It is not clear yet which candidates will be taking part. However the full list is as follows:

Geoff Pratt - Independent (who I am endorsing)
Nick Benson - Liberal Democrats
Richard May - Labour Party
John Sheaves - Conservative Party
Margaret Bargmann - Green Party

Polling day is Thursday 20 September.
