Our coastal beach huts set to be sold to the highest bidder … latest EDDC plans

By |2015-06-01T16:16:00+00:00June 1st, 2015|News|

I am no longer an EDDC councillor so I can’t raise this at scrutiny etc, but I am determined to raise the profile of what EDDC is doing here.

Essentially, EDDC plans to flog off our coastal beach huts to the highest bidder, scrapping the current system of waiting lists and fixed price rents.

So the most wealthy people will get to lease the huts, with the likely outcome that local people will be priced out.

The Express & Echo article sums up proposals here - http://m.exeterexpressandecho.co.uk/Exmouth-beach-huts-rich-highest-bidder-plans/story-26606588-detail/story.html

And here is the consultation document and how to have your say - http://eastdevon.gov.uk/consultation-and-surveys/beach-huts-service/
