By |2015-01-16T23:00:00+00:00January 16th, 2015|News|

Yet more East Devon communities are turning out in vast numbers to express their fears over the threat of large-scale development.

This evening Clyst St George and Ebford (which are set to grow by 65 per cent and 53 per cent respectively) residents turned out to hear East Devon’s MP, Hugo Swire, talk about planning issues.

The brave A&E consultant who dared to tell the truth about a crisis in the NHS

By |2015-01-08T13:33:00+00:00January 8th, 2015|News|

Congratulations to Dr Rob Galloway, who was so incensed by the Prime Minister’s suggestion that hospitals were just “busy” when there is a real crisis, that he wrote a furious and stingingly articulate letter.

Mr Cameron and his pals have been given a cold hard dose of reality and truth - from someone they cannot argue with. I don’t think anyone could have said it better.

The Health and Social Care Act has fragmented the NHS so monumentally that it is extremely hard to navigate. The private sector has been ushered in through the back door, while politicians such as Mr Cameron and Mr Hunt pretend that they actually give a fig about patient care.

Clyst St Mary residents queue out of door at meeting to discuss threat to double the size of village

Around 150 angry Clyst St Mary residents queued out the door of the school hall, to hear the parish council discuss a sudden influx of major applications, which would more than double the size of the village, if approved.

Clyst St Mary latest village to campaign against being swamped by housing

By |2015-01-05T16:34:00+00:00January 5th, 2015|News|

The story below has just been webbed by the Express & Echo and typifies the kind of pressures that so many East Devon villages are under, thanks to a deregulated planning system (the National Planning Policy Framework - NPPF) and the lack of a Local Plan, thanks to East Devon District Council.

The government MUST amend the NPPF and if I was elected I would be lobbying hard to do just that.

Here’s the story -  http://www.exeterexpressandecho.co.uk/Campaign-stated-8216-save-Clyst-St-Mary-8217/story-25807619-detail/story.html

Why would anyone run for Parliament as an Independent?

By |2015-01-03T17:43:00+00:00January 3rd, 2015|News|

Former King’s School student, Oscar Pearson, currently studying journalism in London with the BBC, asked me to write an article for his impressive Chat Politics website about why I am standing for the East Devon constituency seat as an Independent candidate.

As you will see from his face-to-face interviews, Oscar has managed to land some really big names, including deputy prime minister, Nick Clegg and chancellor, George Osborne, as well as famous journalists such as Evan Davis and John Humphrys, among many others.
