• 19 more houses proposed for Tipton St John

  • Devonshire Homes is applying to build 19 houses on land outside the built up area boundary, between Mallocks Close and Otter Close.

In 2011, an appeal to the planning inspectorate to build 56 houses on the same land was dismissed by a planning inspector, following EDDC’s rejection of the scheme. A later application for 28 dwellings in that location was also rejected by EDDC.

Plans of the proposed development appear to show that public open space would replace the previously applied for housing.  Up to seven dwellings are proposed to be affordable.

15 dwellings were approved on the opposite side of the village last year, on land designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, next to Barton Orchard.

Tipton St John is allocated 10 houses in EDDC’s Local Plan until 2026.

Residents have 21 days in which to give their view.  The planning code is 13/1431/MOUT and details can be viewed from the planning section of EDDC’s website.
